Kaufman County CERT, Inc. believes in training CERT teams as they were designed to be trained. During the Standard Class, students will complete 8 2½ hours training classes for a total of 20 hours. Once a student has complete all 8 classes, they will become a full member of Kaufman County CERT, Inc. and receive all rights granted to our members.
All training classes are conducting using the official training material, which may have some tweaking done to insure that they are relevant to Kaufnan County and the surrounding areas.
The complete training course includes the following class sessions:

Class 2 - Fire Safety
- Fire Chemistry
- Fire Extinguisher Use
- Utility Control
- Creative Firefighting Techniques
- Hazardous Materials/Placarding
Class 3 - Disaster Medical Operations (Session 1)
Moving a "vitcim"
- Recognizing Life-Threatening Emergencies
- Treating Life-Threatening Emergencies
- Triage
Class 4 - Disaster Medical Operations (Session 2) and Mulit-Casualty Incident
- Head-to-Toe Evaluation
- Treating Non-Lif-Threating Emergencies
- Treatment Area Management
Class 5 - Light Search & Rescue
- Evacuation
- Search Techniques
- Rescue Methods/Cribbing
Class 6 - CERT Team Organization and Disaster Psychology
- Developing a Response Team
- Incident Command System "ICS"
- Psychological "Size-Up"
Class 7 - Terrorism and CERT, Homeland Defense
- History of Terrorism
- Do's and Don'ts During a Terrorist Act
- Homeland Defense Tips
