One of the biggest ways for any person to help, whether it's Kaufman County CERT or another non-profit group is to make a financial donation.  By a financial donation, we mean physical cash, checks, credit cards and coins, but sometimes people don't think about donating that.

In a disaster, a person might be thinking about donating clothing, food, water, stuffed animals or something similar to these.  While sometimes donations like these may be needed, in most cases, it will cost an organization a lot more money to move these types of donations to a disaster area.  Whether its putting them on a truck, boat, plane or train, it is going to cost money and usually a lot of money to move these items.  That is why during the Tsunami relief efforts in Asia, most organizations were asking for money.

There will be times that Kaufman County CERT will ask for these types of items, but please refrain from donating them until we ask for them.  A financial donation is need more than anything else.

Just think, during a disaster, besides all the damage and loss of like that has happened, there is a reduction of commerce and trade going on.  By having financial donations, we will be able to purchase items that are needed; food, water, clothing and other items, close to or within the disaster zone, which is a great way to help boost the economy.  So please make a donation today.  You donation is 100% Tax Deductible.
